Although the majority of Angelina Jolie's recent endeavours have been dramatic in nature, she's no stranger to high-wattage action, having appeared in the likes of Wanted, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and a pair of outings as Lara Croft. She's capable of playing a distaff James Bond (much as her Lara Croft was a softer, sexier Indiana Jones). In fact, the biggest point of interest in Salt may be the main character's gender: How many action films do we see with a female lead? Reportedly, Tom Cruise was originally attached to Salt. His removal may have been the best thing for the production, and not only because of the actor's plunging audience appeal. With Cruise as the star, this would have been generic. Jolie adds a different dimension, and looks better in heels. |

which is displayed in the most favourable and romantic manner possible by writer/director Rubba Nada and cinematographer Luc Montpellier. Cairo Time is a valentine to Egypt. Shots are composed as if for postcards. Never have the pyramids looked lovelier and never has the Nile been so beguiling. In one scene, a phone conversation occurs in the background while the camera lingers on a cityscape where the only thing that moves is a boat lazily making its way along the river. One could make a case that Cairo Time is as much a travelogue as it is a romance. In fact, one could make the case that Cairo Time is more of a travelogue than a romance. |

There's a nice moment in The Special Relationship, the third film starring Michael Sheen as Britain's prime minister Tony Blair, in which Blair listens to his wife, Cherie (the always excellent Helen McCrory), read his press clippings. Blair has just openly criticized President Bill Clinton's Kosovo policy in a speech delivered in Chicago, and the American press is treating him like a superhero. |

This second sequel pushes the formula into a full-on celebration of street dance. And through sheer exuberance, it almost gets away with it. It's not an excellent movie, but it's a lot of fun. |
